Christos Bezirtzoglou was born in Athens (1966) and lives in Brussels with his wife and their two kids. He studied Physics with specialisation in Electronics and Computers. He speaks English, French and Italian. He has authored four books in the area of regional innovation and one in EU public sector selection procedures.
In Greece, he worked in the private sector as a trainer and consultant in Information and Communication Technologies for ten years.
In 1994 he moved to Brussels to join the European Commission after successfully passing an open competition, occupying posts both in policy Directorates-General (Environment, Competition, Regional Policy & Trade) as well as in policy coordination (Secretariat-General & Cabinet of Commissioner Diamantopoulou).
